Inspiration

As I posted yesterday was likely, there is evidence that islamic fanatacism could have inspired yesterday's Virginia Tech massacre. I have not seen details from the note he left yet but we have this.

"The note included a rambling list of grievances, according to sources. They said Cho also died with the words "Ismail Ax" in red ink on one of his arms."

As a poster at Lucainne points out:

"Ibrahim went towards the temple armed with an ax. ....with his ax he destroyed all the statues except one, the biggest of them. He hung the ax around its neck and left.....Allah rewarded Sarah with a son, Ishaq in spite of her old age." http://www.islamicity.com/mosque/ibrahim.htm

A false conclusion to make. Did radical islam cause his depression too? If Ismail Ax is an islamic reference than all that proves is that even spree killers try to find moral justification for their actions. 40 years ago the red ink on his arm would have said Helter Skelter.

Perhaps you are correct, perhaps not. Ideas can be dangerous and contagious. Note today there has already been a copycat bomb threat at another University.

Springtime bomb threats on college campuses as finals approach are like the cherry blossoms in the capital. They bloom in abundance and then are gone.

It is not that he rationalized his actions.....it is that radical Islam provides comfortable haven from which to do so.
