Tort Reform, Nah

Why would we want to fix this system when it gives so many bright young trial lawyers a chance to get rich quick and retire. Besides, society has an overwhelming need to protect all of these terribly suffering victims. Take the example in the article below. A Washington DC lawyer has endured enormous suffering as a result of the negligent loss of his favorite pants by his dry cleaner. Price tag on this gross injustic in civil court= (currently anyway) 67 million dollars. Now why would we want to, as a society, deny him a chance for full redress of his grievance.
