Universal Healthcare

One of the pet projects of the "progressive" spend thrift populists, universal healthcare took a very public spanking in Illinois. In a healthcare measure which would have taxed the piss out of Illinois businesses, Illinois Governor Blagojevich has taken a beating. He eventually pulled his own support for the bill he had pushed. It was voted down unanimously.

Nevertheless, nationally the Democrats still consider this a holy grail. Mr. Edwards, the trial lawyer who got rich quick suing the pants of Obstetricians, even has the gaul to approach the subject.

Universal Healthcare (socialized medicine) does not work, agreed. But what is the answer?

The first thing that needs to be done is monetize what a malpractice award is....what is an arm worth, what is paralysis worth? EG: tort reform......but that leads down the slippery slope of what is a treatment worth? What is a surgery worth.......and then the enevitable when does a doctor get suspended for taxing the federal malpractice insurance that wold be required to take another profit center out of the equation?

I am truly preplexed......I see only free-market or not.....I can't figure out how we get half pregnant?
